Babar in Exile 7pm Free

Babar in Exile has had ten readings since May 2015 featuring original Cafe Babar and Above Paradise poets from the 80's and 90's, along with an "Honorary Babarian" for each event. The reason that we've been able to do this at all is because these folks have managed to survive their long, creative, and often very wild lives. Which is not true of all the amazing poet performers from that era - so Babar in Exile is having our first memorial event, commemorating the lives of Babar poets who have gone literally to the Paradise of 100 Publishers.

Our features for this reading are two poets who have died in the last year or two. What?! That's right, we proudly welcome to Babar in Exile:

Whitman McGowan read by Margery Snyder
Dominique Lowell read by Dawn Oberg

But that's not all! For the VERY SPECIAL OPEN MIC, we are asking YOU to read work by other Babar and Paradise poets who have become our angel scribes. So PLEASE come ready to read a poem or two by:

Joie Cook
David Lerner
Eli Coppola
Vampire Mike Kassell
Jack Micheline
John Ross
Alfonso Texidor
Eric Walker
and anyone else you know from that era who has passed.

And please let us know if there's anyone we've missed.

They live on through their words and our voices!

We also welcome poems of your own and others, particularly about poets who have died, but try to find a poem by one of these angels as well. There should be some on line, or you might actually have their books, and we will also provide a table of books from Zeitgeist Press that you can read from on the spot. (You can also purchase them as well - a few are rare and hard to find!)

The Honorary Babarians that night will be all of us, whether you were there at the time or not.

Hosted by the time-travelling Richard Loranger and Paul Corman-Roberts.

As always, free of charge yes free of charge yes free of charge, but do partake of the Octopus' mighty bounty.

And word on!
