Bay Area Futurists 2-6pm Free

Everyone is always on the internet even during meetups where the point is ostensibly to be present with other people. I often feel that we should unplug during these times. But another approach is to embrace it in a structured way. So I thought it might be fun to review the contents of the Futurism subreddit together and then discuss the topics and articles that catch our interest.

This week Reddit Futurists have shared the following headlines that appeal to me:

AI-created flu vaccine starts testing in US

Self-Driving Bus is Now Operating in Australia

AI Trained on Old Scientific Papers Makes Discoveries Humans Missed

This last is of particular interest to me since I have long suspected that a lot of connections exist in the literature that are impossible for human readers to discover due to the incredible volumes of research being published every moment.

We will also set aside some time for five minute lightning talks paired with five minutes of discussion so that attendees can share topics of interest to them.

I'm looking forward to spending time with my futurist friends at the Octopus. Come join us!
