Dirty Old Women (erotica) 730pm

Older women: Wise enough to tell the truth about sex – what they want, what they've done, what makes them hot. Dirty Old Women, a monthly series at Octopus, celebrates erotic writing by self-identified older women of all flavors.

On Tuesday, January 24, the featured readers are Jade A. Waters and Zoe Kat.

Jade Aurora Waters has always liked literary trouble. It started with sneaking dirty books under the covers to read by flashlight when she was young. By the time she picked up Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin, she realized her next step was writing erotica.

Jade has been penning erotic poems and stories ever since this epiphany. Sometimes, her stories are romantic and sweet; other times, they are naughty and wild. But no matter the content, Jade believes that erotica has the ability to transform, heal, and connect not only the characters within, but those who choose to read it.

Jade’s work has appeared in several Cleis Press "Best Erotica" anthologies, as well as Holiday Spice from Fast Foreword; it was performed on The Kiss Me Quick’s Erotica Podcast. She'll read from her debut erotic BDSM novel, The Assignment, which was just published by Carina Press.

Zoe Kat got a degree in ceramics and promptly realized full-time ceramics jobs were not available. Her great theater ability let her into her life's real vocation: sex work. Her writing reflects her 15 years of experience as a sex worker in the Bay Area. As a person who has had cancer, she also investigates how Western medicine systems and ideologies intersect with human sexuality. Her work has been anthologized, and she's a popular reader at events including Litquake.

Open mike starts at 7:30 and is open to EVERYONE; featured readings begin at 8 pm. Dirty Old Women is hosted by Susan Kuchinskas and takes place on the fourth Tuesday of the month at The Octopus. This event is free, inclusive and accessible!
