Let's Talk About Sex 7pm $5-20
LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX is a monthly discussion about sex, the good, bad, and gray areas. It is a night for all sexual beings to come together and discuss complicated topics in a safe and healthy way.
This month we will be holding space for those processing the feelings that are surfacing due to power, politics, and the Kavanaugh hearing. If you have been triggered, are looking for a deeper understanding, and/or want to come and support loved ones who have been affected by sexual assault, you are encouraged to attend and bring a friend.
In this circle, community members are encouraged (but not required) to listen and share poetry, short stories, essays, music, and spoken word related to the themes of sex, intimacy, and trauma. Together, we'll dig deeper into what makes sexual experiences mind-blowing (or not) and identify practices that lead to sexual wellness.
The event kicks off at 7pm at the Octopus Literary Saloon in Oakland, CA (3 blocks from 19th St BART station). The venue is wheelchair accessible, serving food and drinks which we hope you'll order to show them love.
A suggested donation of $5-20 is accepted at door, but, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Survivor Alliance merchandise will also be available for sale. Funds collected are dedicated to the Alliance Fund, which gives back 20% of proceeds to sexual violence survivors through healing-centered grants.
All perspectives are welcome at this event, however, we do advise against bringing children as experiences related to trauma will be shared. All we ask is that you bring is an open heart, mind, and soul to our healing space. We look forward to seeing you there! ♥
