Poems & Songs: Sean Corkery, Andrew Sano & Chris Mattingly (Louisville) 7pm
Chris Mattingly is a poet, musician, and teacher from Louisville, Kentucky. For the past 10 years Chris’s poems have appeared in national and regional journals, but he insists he has been distributing his work via zines way longer than that. He is the author of two chapbooks, Ad Hoc and A Light for Your Beacon, both from Q Avenue Press and the full-length collection Scuffletown from Typecast Publising. Chris is co-founding editor of Ledge Mule Press, a publisher of limited letterpress editions and impossible to find vinyl. He has an MFA in Poetry from Spalding University and currently teaches writing and literature at Bellarmine University.
"Beneath Your Feet Is Where The Sky Begins" is a truth told by flowers to a man living in Oakland who decides to start writing poetry after 51 years of living. A half-century of being a quiet child, good student, lover, fighter, bad waiter, terrible typist, decent painter, singer and songwriter, builder of homes and flammable buildings, cook, eater, drinker, dancer, host, guest, friend and plain human informs every word, line and stanza within this remarkable first book. Poetry not your thing? This book could change that.
A multi instrumentalist and vocalist, Sean currently performs as a solo singer-songwriter. He has also performed as a guitarist and percussionist in several Bay Area bands includingFogo Na Roupa, Loyd Family Players, Sparkle Johnson & Fleeting Trance. Sean has performed as a solo artist in the Bay Area, New Zealand, and Antarctica.
